It is usually necessary during a waterbirth to heat up the birth pool. It should remain between 92 and 98 degrees for optimal pain relief. I recently found this Sinking Tank Heater that I want to try out at the next home birth in water.
It's original purpose is to keep ice from forming in your animal's water trough up north in the winter. I hope it gets hot enough.
Since I do not want to expose it to debris in the birth pool, I plan to try heating a bucket of clean water with it. I will let you know what happens.
Anyone try this already?
